'Titanic' christened at VSDA

Discount Store News, July 27, 1998 by Robert Scally

"Cats," which appeals as much to adults as young people, is the longest running musical in Broadway history; but it has never been adapted for home video. The video production will include a soundtrack featuring the full 100-piece orchestra that composer Andrew Lloyd Weber intended for the musical.

Absent from the show was one of the summer's major blockbusters, "Small Soldiers."

Another relative newcomer on the sell-through scene is Golden Books Family Entertainment Home Video & Audio, which will street Sept. 1 with a half-dozen titles called the Holiday Classic Collection.

Priced at $12.98 each, the collection comprises well-known holiday television specials including a newly restored version of the 1963 stop-motion "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Frosty The Snowman," "The Little Drummer Boy," "Cricket On The Hearth," Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" and Frosty Returns."
