Discount Store News, Sept 5, 1994
The Caped Crusader will once again oppose the farcical criminals of Gotham City in Warner Bros.' upcoming live-action film, "Batman Forever," and apparel marketers are hoping to make a killing.
Warner Bros. Consumer Products has finalized several licensing agreements, including a printed sportswear deal with Commerce, Calif.-based Giant Merchandising. Giant is set to produce a line of cotton juvenile and adult T-shirts, fleece and tank tops for distribution in Sears, JCPenney and Mervyn's, with a possible showing at discounters like Target.
Referring to the still-confidential Forever artwork, Giant's Jay Durkee, vice president of retail sales, says, "The dark edge of the previous Batman movies has been toned down. The new images--including a completely-redesigned batmobile--will be very techno."

Additionally, Warner Bros. has signed Armitron to manufacture a collection of mass market analog watches for kids and adults.
Production of the third installment of the Dark Knight saga, which is scheduled to be released next spring, begins this month on location in Los Angeles and New York. Val Kilmer has been secured to portray the enigmatic hero, while Nicole Kidman will play his sultry love interest. Chris O'Donnell will portray Robin and his alter-ego, Dick Grayson. Tommy Lee Jones will play the disfigured Two-Face. The Riddler will be brought to life by the hysterical Jim Carrey.
