Software publishers focus on family life

Discount Store News, Sept 18, 1995

In the family reference category, IVI Publishing's Mayo Clinic Family Health still reigns supreme, and the 1996 version has adapted to the changing ways families are now computing, adding an on-line feature and free Internet-browser software. The 1996 version has added a personal and family health history feature, a high-speed symptom search mode, a prescription drug reference guide almost as powerful as stand-alone versions and a practical poison guide.

One of the most comprehensive and least expensive approaches to family computing is Time Warner Interactive's Quick Reads series, dozens of family reference titles with an advanced search engine for quick answers to questions. Among the first titles are Bartlett's Book of Business Quotations, Earl Mindell's Vitamin Bible, American Vegetarian Cookbook, The Complete Wedding Planner, Fit for Life, Mr. Boston Official Bartender's and Party Guide and The Entertainment Weekly Guide to the Greatest Movies--all for well under $15 per diskette.
