Fabricland Fights Takeover Move

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. -- House of Fabrics' offer of $13.50 per share for the purchase of Portland-based Fabricland has been rejected; Fabricland has adopted a poison pill policy to thwart the takeover attempt. The offer, placed on Jan. 10, follows lengthy discussions between the two fabric and craft specialty chains. House of Fabrics president, Gary L. Larkins is expected to continue his pursuit of the 77-unit chain. Larkins first initiated talks with Tony Bosboom, Fabricland president, in 1984.
