HARRISON, N.J. -- Lechters specialty housewares stores reported a 15% sales increase to $12.3 million for the four weeks ended Jan. 26, 1991. However, comparable store sales declined 4.6% during the corresponding period. Sales for the 52 weeks showed an increase of 20% to $187.5 million, but comparable store sales decreased 0.2%. At the present time, Lechters operates 364 stores in 33 states. A year ago, 297 stores were in operation.
