HICKSVILLE, N.Y. -- Ikea, the Swedish home furnishings retailer, opened its first New York state store in this Long Island suburb March 20. The metro New York area is the only market with two Ikea outlets, the other being in Newark, N. J. The 226,000-square-foot store's new features include a new traffic flow pattern and a custom couch department with a delivery service called Ikea Custom Sofas. The retailer also debuted Ikea-brand bed linens in sizes that fit American beds.
