Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedMisses', juniors' styling helps hypo large-size sales
Discount Store News, August 6, 1984
This year at Gold Circle cropped pull-on pants in cotton/polyester sheeting and twills have been hot sellers in large sizes. Split skirts in the same fabrications were also popular for spring. For fall, Huffman is putting in cropped pants and split skirts in corduroy, keeping polyester pull-on pants in stock and offering coordinates and cardigan sweaters plus sweater vests.
ALCO, Zodys and Murphy's Mart are all planning to beef up their offerings of large-sized sportswear later this year or next spring with a more youthful fashion orientation.
At Ames, tactics including going after fashions translated from juniors, and adding large-size swimwear made large-size ladies' wear the biggest growth category at the chain last year.
