New state laws affect bad checks, consumer credit

Missouri

HB977 requires that a business intended to transfer or terminate operations resulting in termination of 50 or more employees to give at least 180 days notice and to pay each employee terminated severance pay of one week to 12 weeks pay based on the years of service. It would also require continuation of health and life insurance benefits up to six months from the date of separation.

SB601 deals with the responsibilities of certain employers who cease or change operations within the state.

HB1128 deals with relocation and termination of certain business establishments.

AB2642 would prohibit a business selling goods or services at retail from requiring customers to pay any kind of charge or fee, including, but not limited to, a membership fee in order to shop at that particular business.
