Staff from Johnson County Kansas and the city of De Soto have resolved one point of conflict between the city and county regarding a county permit to regulate Sunflower Quarry, but differences remain less than a month before the permit is to be considered for zoning board approval. The De Soto City Council found five points of conflict when Johnson County interim planning director Dean Palos presented the proposed conditional use permit for the Hunt Midwest Mining Inc.
