ConocoPhillips oil products comply with the upcoming CI-4 Plus standard

Pit & Quarry, August, 2004

ConocoPhillips Co. announced that its heavy-duty diesel engine oils from the Conoco, Phillips 66, 76 and Kendall brands are compliant with the upcoming API CI-4 Plus standard, a supplemental upgrade of the API CI-4 service category.

API CI-4 Plus establishes a higher level of performance for soot thickening control and shear stability of diesel engine oils designed for use in the modern low-emission engines. Product reformulation was not necessary to meet API CI-4 Plus specification scheduled to take effect in September 2004, according to Reginald Dias, director of commercial products, ConocoPhillips Lubricants Division.

"ConocoPhillips anticipated the upcoming CI-4 Plus change from our close association with the industry and engine builders and developed a strategy to build that level of performance into our product line. Therefore, our heavy-duty diesel products already meet the CI-4 Plus specifications in advance of the first licensing date later this year," Dias says.
