* Water Mitigation

8:30-11:30 a.m.

Water mitigation requirements are changing for the U.S. mining
industry. Participants with permitting and compliance responsibility
will hear from federal regulators about recent developments and
anticipated programs related to the National Mitigation Action Plan.
In addition, strategies for operating in these changing times will
be discussed by industry.

* Technology Workshop

8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

The National Mining Association is sponsoring a Technology Workshop
featuring a review of the most promising projects sponsored by the
Mining Industry of the Future research program. Also included will
be reports on FutureGen, the initiative to build the world's first
integrated sequestration and hydrogen production research power plant
and CAST (The Center for Advanced Separation Technologies) programs
using both physical and chemical separation processes to produce
cleaner coal and improve mineral recovery. All of these programs are
jointly funded by the Department of Energy and the mining industry
with participation from the national labs and universities.
