An Optimistic Start. Will 2003 be a better year than 2002 for the industry? According to the Precision Metalforming Association Business Conditions Report, economic optimism extended into its third month, based on conditions as of January 1, 2003. So there is hope that the year will be better. The report also showed that 33 percent of participants expect the trend of economic activity to increase during the next 3 months.
Only 13 percent thought activity would decrease. These numbers reflect the most positive outlook in 6 months. The majority (45 percent) also predicted that orders would increase, while only 11 percent expected them to decrease. Full reports are available at www.metalforming.com.
