Modern Machine Shop, April, 2002 by Katherine A. Kelley
South China may not be a place you would think of when you think of computer-aided design, but SolidWorks Corp. is working to change that. The company has partnered with eight universities to bring 245 seats of SolidWorks software into their curricula and prepare thousands of students for well-paying engineering and design jobs in the manufacturing markets in South China.
The initiatiative's goal is to provide professional training and development to the university instructors who, in turn, will help their students get mechanical engineering jobs in the region's fast-growing industrial economy. This is SolidWorks' second education initiative to bring 3D CAD technology to Chinese universities in the past year.
