More than your ordinary field trip

Modern Machine Shop, May, 2002 by Katherine A. Kelley

A large group of students recently took a day for the common "field trip" experience. This one, however, was nothing like the usual art museum or a play. Nearly 300 high school students and their instructors spent a day at Metalform '02 at Chicago's McCormick Place South Hall. At this annual Precision Metalforming Association student day, students could experience more than 200 exhibits of comprehensive metalforming and fabricating products and process improvements, new equipment and technology.

The day began with an orientation by members of PMA's training and education and quality committees, along with training professionals from member companies. The orientation included an overview of the industry, career path information and data and a viewing of an industry video designed specifically for students.
