ToyMaker 3000

Modern Machine Shop, May, 2003 by Katherine A. Kelley

It sounds like a new video game for the "Super Playtendo Box V" or some such entertainment system that has youth glued to its screen. But this is actually an exhibit that could promote learning! ToyMaker 3000 is the newest permanent exhibit at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry. One of the "players" in the exhibit is Cox Automation Systems (West Chicago, Illinois).

The company will help showcase modern day, cutting edge manufacturing techniques. The exhibit encourages visitors to interact with machines, tools and computers in order to become acquainted with an advanced and highly automated factory. One example is a machine that exhibits human characteristics such as sight. The exhibit was set to open in early April. Visit www.msichicago.org for directions and more information about the exhibit.
