Software And accessories for waterjet machining—OMAX, booth 5569

Modern Machine Shop, May, 2004 by Lori B. Bok

Intelli-Max software for the company's abrasive waterjet machines has features that include a 3D path editor, which allows programming of the motorized Z axis to follow contours or avoid obstacles. This feature allows users to add a third dimension to the tool path by specifying the height of the cutting nozzle. Other software capabilities include a feature that automatically calculates and compensates for sharp corners, a dynamic piercing capability that speeds up a variety of piercing operations, improved taper control and array-nesting software for material savings.

The company also introduces four new accessories: a Tilt-A-Jet cutting head that is said to eliminate taper; a precision optical locater for tool-and-die applications; a new automated drill attachment; and the Maxjet 5 cutting nozzle, which is said to deliver precise alignment with longer nozzle life.
