CAM developer "goes green" with HQ expansion
Modern Machine Shop, July, 2008 by Matthew D. Danford
DP Technology, the developer of Esprit CAM software, is remodeling and expanding its corporate headquarters to better serve the needs of customers and staff. The facility is located roughly 50 miles north of Los Angeles in Ventura County, California.
The company acquired an adjoining structure to expand the facility from 12,000 to approximately 20,000 square feet. Both buildings will be completely remodeled, resulting in a 70-percent increase in overall office space. The extra space will be used to triple the area currently devoted to the company's R&D department, and it will serve as a locale to conduct group training classes, meetings and presentations.
Despite the size increase, the company says its energy footprint will remain the same, thanks to energy-efficient equipment and design features. Energy-saving efforts include the use of 100-percent recycled porcelain tile, electronic dampers in the air conditioning and heating system and more.
