Multi-function turning center—Okuma America, booth A-8301

Modern Machine Shop, August, 2002

The Mac Turn 250-2S W multi-function turning center is said to offer accurate solutions to users who require integrated parts machining. The turning center uses an integral motor/spindle that operates up to 5,000 rpm and is rated at 30/20 hp. A44-station automatic toolchanger provides tool-to-tool times of l.5 seconds. Maximum machining diameter is 21.65", with a maximum turning length of 40.35". The bed is 1,000 mm long.

On display will be a total of eleven new lathes and machining centers, including the Cosmo Center PM-600, a parallel mechanism machine tool developed to achieve high efficiency die-mold machining that requires less polishing work and integrates operations for cutting complicated shapes. An open-architecture CNC control will also be introduced.
