Haas produces 75,000th machine tool

Modern Machine Shop, August, 2007 by Matthew D. Danford

Haas Automation's plant in Southern California has turned out its 75,000th machine tool. The machine, a high speed VF-3SS VMC, was installed on May 31 at MEPO Minoudis GmbH & Co. KG, a second-tier automotive components supplier based in Korb, Germany. Along with that company's other four Haas VMCs, the machine will be used to make parts for local companies Porsche, Bosch and Mercedes as well as other domestic and overseas car manufacturers.

"It's fitting that the 75,000th Haas CNC machine tool should be installed in Europe," says Peter Hall, managing director of Haas Automation Europe. "Although obviously not Haas' home market, it's an incredibly important one for the future prosperity of the company."

According to Hall, the company's machines can help European manufacturers under threat from low-cost countries increase productivity while keeping costs and overheads low. "We give customers simplicity, reliability and comprehensive support," he says.
