Five-axis, bridge-type machining center—SNK America, Inc., booth A-8432

Modern Machine Shop, Sept, 2006 by Matthew D. Danford

The RB-200F, five-axis machining center features a double-column design and construction for stability and machining accuracy. A CNC controlled W axis with cross-rail elevation provides versatility. The combination of 25 hp (continuous), 40 rpm to 6,000 rpm, ISO 50 taper spindle and a 394 ipm cutting feed rate (X, Y) enables high speed cutting. This produces machined finishes at fast rates. Idle time is reduced because of a 787 ipm (X, Y) rapid traverse. The machine is suited for the machining of dies, molds and other applications requiring precise, multi-axis, simultaneous machining/contouring.

The machining center has a table working surface 79" x 157", and the table load capacity is more than 33,000 lbs. Travels (X Y Z W) are 167" x 114" x 23.6" x 33.5". Spindle head rotation (B) is [ or -] 95 degrees, and spindle head rotation (C) is [ or -] 360 degrees.

The machining center also features a Fanuc 30i Control.
