Company creates virtual tool shop
Modern Machine Shop, Jan, 2005 by Christy R. Bramlet
The company, a supplier of assembly automation components, is using SolidWorks 3D PartStream.NET service to create a virtual tool shop designed to help companies expedite the assembly of machines that manufacture their products.
The online catalog allows users to configure and download 3D models of customized bushings, locating pins, linear shafts, bearing housings and other components into machine designs.
Additionally, the virtual storefront enables users to enter the codes for specific part features and custom configure the component model needed. The model can then be downloaded to determine how it fits into the user's design. So, users have access to the most current pricing and delivery time information.
