The Manufacturing Skill Standards Council has a new CD ROM version of "A Blueprint for Workforce Excellence: Core and Concentration Skill Standards for Manufacturing." It is available at www.msscusa.org. Since the skill standards began, several organizations have used them to develop and enhance their education and training programs.
The standards represent best practice high performance work and define the skills and knowledge required for a skilled, versatile industrial workforce in production and production support. The standards also outline what is needed in manufacturing for six broad areas of work: production; logistics and inventory control; quality assurance; maintenance, installation and repair; health, safety and environmental assurance; and production process development.
