Gundrills for deep and precision drilling

Modern Machine Shop,  Feb, 2007  by Matthew D. Danford

Sterling Gun Drills offers fluted and solid-carbide tipped gundrills in diameters ranging from 0.0530" (1.35 mm) to 0.1600" (4.06 mm) with overall lengths as long as 13.5" (340 mm). The company says the drills are useful for deep and precision hole drilling of various medical parts, including probing devices and bone screws. They are manufactured with inch and metric drivers and feature a "D" or "teardrop" coolant hole. The drills are available in 30 x 20 degree or 40 x 30 degree "facet" or "sweep" nose grinds.
