The first level is the Executive Overview. This allows the user to generate reports, analyze the previous 12 months' sales and stock, and perform other status functions.

The next level is the Sales Management menu. It creates and maintains quotes, files, reports, and customer credit information.

Production management is the third level and features purchasing, inventory, shipping and receiving, and inspection entries.

Other menus include Financial Management, Master Lists, and System Maintenance. There is also a built-in tutor to assist users should they become lost at some point.

The system requires a PC-AT with 640 K RAM, one 1.2-megabyte floppy disk, and a monochrome monitor.

3D CAD/CAM System-Hurco,

Booth 4302

The Ulticam full 3D CAD/CAM system was developed for the creation of complex surfaces and cavities such as mold tool cavities, forging dies, turbine blades, and EDM electrodes. It has two individual yet fully interactive elements.

The design element can take various inputs. Window format menus can be used with a mouse or data can be used from most CAD systems to design various part profiles. Information from a digitizer will automatically produce a 3D surface. Data entered from engineering drawings result in 2D profiles that can be projected into three dimensions. Each surface can be modified or manipulated to control translation, independent axis scaling, rotation and mirror imaging.

The second element takes the design and creates the necessary machining data. The system will create machine paths in up to five axes simultaneously. The operator may incorporate such information as the method of machining, tolerances data for rough and smooth finish passes, cutter path direction and number of passes.

Options for data output include data held in the internal memory, displayed actively on the screen or downloaded to an external plotter, data storage device or most CNC machine tools.

Paper Tape Reader Emulator - ETM

Services, Booth 6046

The Tape Twin system is a paper tape reader used to end the need for paper tape on the shop floor. The system also incorporates the reader emulator in a DNC (distributed numerical control) network. These steps should increase productivity by eliminating the need to punch, transport, read and store punched paper tape.

A part program can be typed and recorded to a floppy disk in the same manner that a part program is typed and recorded on punched tape with a tape punching device. The system allows part programs to be viewed, edited, erased or listed on a printer. Part program storage memory in the controls is not needed.

The system operates the NC/CNC equipment from the Tape Twin output. It transmits either ASCII (RC-358) or EIA (RS-244) signals identical to the signals transmitted by a tape reader. The system is designed to connect the Tape Twin output directly into the tape reader interface connector. It does not eliminate the ability to use the original tape reader or memory. The original tape reader can be returned to service by flipping a switch.
