GAA Sets 2001 Calendar

Paperboard Packaging, Feb, 2001

ROCHESTER, N.Y.-The Gravure Association of America (GAA) has finalized its 2001 calendar.

On Jan. 9-12, GAA is sponsoring the GAA Fingerprinting the Gravure Process seminar at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Mich. Attendees will learn ways to save time, cut down on the wear and tear of equipment, and avoid costly fingerprinting mistakes. The seminar takes place again on April 17-20 and Oct. 9-12 at the university.

"2001 A Gravure Odyssey: Managing the Technology/People Equation," features the annual GAA convention and golden cylinder awards. The convention will explore how to manage people and their systems and discuss success stories of products influenced by the quality of gravure printing. Sessions include evaluating the automation investment and managing people in an automated environment. A tour of Quad/Graphics, Inc. also is offered. The convention takes place May 20-23 at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center, Milwaukee.

The Basic Gravure seminar, a five-day program providing a broad perspective and specific process information, is scheduled June 11-15 at Western Michigan University and Oct. 1-5 at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, N.Y. It will fill the knowledge gaps of experienced participants while teaching a solid foundation to new participants. GAA says it's also an educational tool for management and sales personnel.

Other GAA programs, all scheduled at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club in Naples, Fla., include:

* The GAA Fall Technical conference, Sept. 23-26.

* The Gravure Packaging Buyers conference, Nov. 8-9.

* The Gravure Catalog and Inset Council conference, Nov. 14-16.

* The GAA Winter Technical conference, Dec. 2-4.

* The GAA Engravers roundtable, Dec. 5.
