Columbia Forest Products, a manufacturer of hardwood plywood and hardwood veneer based in Portland, OR, announced that it will shut down its Hearst, ON, particleboard plant indefinitely, effective Nov. 12. The company cited escalating energy costs, tow product prices, U.S./ Canada exchange rate issues, softening demand and a growing market over-capacity as contributing factors to the plant's closure.
The facility employs approximately 83.
