Biodegradable composites made entirely from plant materials and developed by Anil Netravali, professor of fiber science and apparel design at Cornell University, will soon be found in commercial products, according to the Cornell Chronicle. The composites are made entirely from plant fiber and a resin derived from soy protein.

Netravali, who has been working on the composites for several years, partnered with Pat Govang, former industrial partnerships director for the Cornell Center for Materials Research, last year to form e2e Materials LLC. The company's first product will be a replacement for particleboard.
