Probabilistic OCTG design: definition, scope, status - interview with ARCO Exploration and Production Technology's M.L. Payne; oil country tubular goods - Interview

World Oil, July, 1998 by Mike Payne

Q. What type of information from other operators would be helpful and whom can they contact?

A. We are always interested in getting input from other operators and from pipe manufacturers on these topics. From other operators, we need to hear about their design philosophies, their views on proper field load assumptions, and any failures they have suffered. From the manufacturers, we need further input as to the best ways of fully inspecting pipe as it is manufactured and on existing data to support the modernization of the API/ISO performance properties.

As an officer of API Sub-Committee 5 and as an ISO Work Group Convenor, it is my job to listen to all of these views and work toward getting an industry consensus established, documented and published. I would encourage interested parties to contact me directly.
