Component video inputs - feature of Sharp's direct-view TV set

Television Digest with Consumer Electronics, Jan 5, 1998

Component video inputs will be feature of Sharp's 1998 direct-view 27-36[inches] TV sets, company will announce at this week's CES in Las Vegas. Component input will make sets DTV-ready for company's DTV-to-NTSC converter, and to take high-quality signal from Sharp's forthcoming midi-size DVD player, company said.

Last year, Sharp began incorporating component inputs in its line of LCD front-projectors. At CES, Sharp will show broad range of DTV products including rear and LCD front projection, direct-view for HD; SD-only 30W direct-view set; set-top converter for analog TVs. "We're taking a broad approach that will provide consumers with a variety of options," said Robert Scaglione, dir.-product planning.
