CKE same-store sales drop 5.3% in February

SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. -- CKE Restaurants, Inc. said same-store sales at its Hardee's chain fell 5.3 percent for the four weeks ended Feb. 24, 2003. Same-store sales increased 1.7 percent at Carl's Jr. and rose 5.2 percent at La Salsa during that period. CKE, which operates almost 3,400 restaurants, attributed the decline at Hardee's to extreme weather conditions in the Midwest and Southeast, where most of its units are located.

CKE has almost 3,400 units, including 2,255 Hardee's restaurants, 981 Carl's Jr. units and 98 La Salsa Fresh Mexican Grills.
