Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedNPD Group acquires British research firm in bid to expand CREST to U.K. and Spain

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. -- The NPD Group, a global market research firm based here, has acquired the foodservice tracking business of Taylor Nelson Sofres PLC, or TNS, in the United Kingdom and Spain. TNS is a London-based market research and information group.
The two companies said they would work together to develop special reports combining their information on food consumption trends in Great Britain.
The acquisition--which is part of NPD's expansion push for its CREST service arm--makes NPD the main provider of consumer panel information for the foodservice industry in the United Kingdom and Spain.
According to terms of the agreement, CREST will take the place of both the TNS Outlet Tracker and the TNS Out of Home Report.
Clients will continue to receive the same information previously available through TNS as well as other information unique to CREST.
Andy Tarshis, NPD group president for Europe, said, "Our goal is to offer global coverage with granular market views that provide the breadth and depth the foodservice industry needs to drive decision making."
