Corner Cafe offers Beanie Baby toys

Nation's Restaurant News, May 5, 1997

ATLANTA - The Corner Cafe here recently took advantage of the continued popularity of the Beanie Babies children's line of toys with a promotion that helped expand awareness of the restaurant's family-friendly menu and raise money for the Lauren Zagoria Pediatric Cancer Research Fellowship.

The restaurant teamed up with radio station Peach 94.9, The City of Hope, Koplin's Kids, Zoo Atlanta and the parents of Lauren Zagoria, a 2-year-old girl who in 1992 succumbed to a rare form of pediatric cancer.

The integrated fund-raiser, fashion show and dinner encouraged children to attend the party with their favorite Beanie Baby and their family. As part of the evening's celebrations, kids experienced a sit-down dinner, viewed an informal fashion show and visited with pets from Zoo Atlanta's Zoo-Mobile.

Throughout the evening partygoers also were photographed with their favorite Beanie Baby in front of a full collection of bean-filled fuzzy toys and signed and decorated a special mural that was to be presented to the children at the pediatric cancer research center at City of Hope's new facility wing.
