Carbo's Cafe

3717 Roswell Road, Buckhead, (404) 231-4433. Carbo's features Continental New American cuisine in an intimate atmosphere that acts as the setting for more than a few romantic anniversaries. Chef Scott Schwartz's specialties include the Carpet Bagger, which is filet mignon pocketing a miniature Maine lobster tail served with a lobster cream sauce. And for dessert, try the Grand Marnier souffle. Dinner. Closed Sundays.

Chops and The Lobster Bar

70 W. Paces Ferry Road, Buckhead, (404) 262-2675. This 190-seat member of the Buckhead Life group is a high-stakes steak house. The menu features premium steaks in a premium steakhouse atmosphere, along with a number of seafood items. The addition of the separate Lobster Bar adds to the clubby atmosphere. House specialties include a 3-pound porterhouse steak and Norwegian smoked salmon. Dinner and weekday lunch.

Chopstix

4279 Roswell Road, Buckhead, (404) 255-4868. Tired of eating imitations of his native cuisine, Philip Chan gave up a consulting career to cook for himself. Serving upscale Chinese food in a candle-lit fine-dining setting, Chopstix features dishes like pan-fried whole snapper with black bean sauce and stir-fry lobster with ginger scallion sauce. Dinner and weekday lunch.

Ciboulette Restaurant

1529 Piedmont Ave., (404) 874-7600. For special-occasion dining, many Atlantans head to Ciboulette for modern French cuisine in a traditional upscale French setting. Operated by chef-owner Thomas Coohill, a protege of French-born celebrity chef Jean Banchet, Ciboulette serves specialties like seared foie gras on toast points with a mushroom reduction and rack of venison with potato gratin and broiled fruit. Dinner only. Closed Sundays.

1848 House

780 S. Cobb Drive, Marietta, (770) 428-1848. Venture a bit outside the city to suburban Marietta, and you'll arrive at 1848 House, situated inside a restored Greek antebellum plantation house on 13 acres of land. The building is featured on the National Historic Registry. Owner Bill Dunaway's establishment serves contemporary Southern cuisine, including Charleston she-crab soup and bourbon-and-teriyaki-marinated pork tenderloin. And chocolate lovers are implored to try the specialty dessert, Sweet Georgia Brown. Dinner and Sunday Brunch. Closed Mondays.

Harvest

853 N. Highland Ave., Virginia Highlands, (404) 876-8244. The 70-seat Harvest is set in a turn-of-the-century two-story house, with six fireplaces and a decor inspired by the Arts & Crafts period. Chef-owner Justin Ward's menu is full of American cuisine, including seared Chilean sea bass with roasted vegetables and warm lentil vinaigrette and maple-smoked grilled pork chop with cheddar-stuffed potato pancakes. Dinner and Sunday brunch.

490 E. Paces Ferry Road, Buckhead, (404) 233-7673. Owned by Gerry Klaskala of Canoe, Hedgerose is a cozy, elegant eatery that serves American contemporary cuisine with a French twist. Chef Martin Gagne's menu includes lobster fricassee with fresh vegetables and fish stock, saffron and tarragon as well as steamed shrimp with tomato mousse and curry sauce. Dinner only. Closed Sundays.
