Nation's Restaurant News,  May 19, 2008

MARWILLE, TENN. -- Casual-dining chain Ruby Tuesday announced that it has begun donating a portion of sales from its gourmet cookies to area food banks. As part of the new "Cookies for a Cause" program, whenever a customer buys a dozen of the chain's gourmet cookies, Ruby Tuesday will donate 10 percent of the proceeds to America's Second Harvest. Ruby Tuesday says it has raised more than $65,000 in just a few months, which translates into more than i million meals served at food banks affiliated with America's Second Harvest.

The chain advertises "Cookies for a Cause" on its menus and cookie boxes and encourages other businesses to consider similar programs.
