Oneida to acquire Delco Tableware, U.K. concern

ONEIDA, N.Y. -- Tableware manufacturer Oneida Ltd. signed an agreement to acquire Long Island, N.Y.-based Delco International Ltd., including its subsidiary, Delco Tableware International Inc., and its ABCO International division, for about $76 million in cash.

The deal is expected to close during Oneida's second quarter, which will end July 29.

Also, Oneida and its London-based unit, Oneida U.K., agreed to acquire Viners of Sheffield Ltd., a marketer and manufacturer of flatware and cookware, for about $25 million in cash. That deal also is expected to close July 29.

Delco is a marketer of tableware products for the foodservice industry. Separately, Peter Kallet, Oneida's president and chief executive, was elected to the added post of chairman. He succeeds William Matthews.
