Nation's Restaurant News, Jan 14, 2002

ALEXANDRIA, VA. -- Sara Gasiorowski and Julia Bauscher were the first recipients of the Design for Tomorrow: Kitchen Design and Renovation Award, created by the American School Food Service Association.

Gasiorowski, foodservice director at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, was honored for best on-site kitchen. Bauscher, kitchen manager for Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, Ky., was recognized for having the best central kitchen.

The awards recognize new or renovated kitchens that make their foodservice departments more efficient, display innovation in their design and improve customer service. The honorees were scheduled to discuss their kitchens later this month at ASFSA's Industry & Technology Conference in Albuquerque, N.M.
