Key West festival offers full menu for food and wine lovers

KEY WEST, FLA. -- A rich harvest of indigenous seafood, tropical fruits and diverse multicultural influences took center stage at this year's annual Key West Food and Wine Festival here.

The Key West Restaurant and Bar Association presented the festival, which was held last month and attracted more than 4,000 people who took part in 33 different events.

The celebration featured gourmet wine dinners, sunset champagne sailing excursions, culinary competitions and cooking classes led by master chefs.

Gourmet dinners prepared by local culinary talents highlighted the gala. Participating chefs included Alice Weingarten of Alice's Key West, Susan Ferry of Cafe Marquesa, John Correa of Cafe Sole and Andrew Berman of Pisces restaurant.

In addition, a series of wine classes was led by Australian wine specialist Tom Carroll, Italian wine specialist Daniel Burgio and Paul Moe from the San Francisco Wine Exchange.
