McDonald's same-store sales advance 3.4% in August

OAK BROOK, ILL. -- McDonald's Corp. said same-store sales at its namesake chain climbed 3.4 percent for the month of August, including gains of 3.2 percent in the United States, 3.6 percent in Europe and 4 percent in the Asia-Pacific/Middle East/Africa region.

The chain's worldwide sales increased 5.7 percent on a reported basis and 4.4 percent in constant currencies.

The company said that U.S. customers responded positively to the August introduction of its new Premium Chicken Sandwiches.
