Lebanese restaurateurs order oysters and discover treasure trove of pearls

Nation's Restaurant News, Sept 29, 2008 by Elissa Elan

BEIRUT, LEBANON -- A restaurateur and his wife discovered a wealth of surprises while dining on oysters: a cluster of some 26 pearls, the Associated Press reported.

The oyster was one of about 200 that were cooked at Raymond Salha's Al-Fanar restaurant that day. Salha said that when his wife opened the oyster shell she gasped out loud over the amount of pearls inside of it.

Although the pearls are not believed to be worth much, Salha and his wife are planning to display the oyster, with pearls intact, in their restaurant.
