Rosenfeld replaces retiring Bru at Frito-Lay

PURCHASE, N.Y. -- PepsiCo said Frito-Lay chairman and chief executive Al Bru has been named vice chairman of PepsiCo effective immediately, and will retire Feb. 1, 2005. He will continue to report to chairman and chief executive Steve Reinemund. Bru has been succeeded at Frito-Lay by Irene Rosenfeld, former president of Kraft Foods' North American business.

Rosenfeld reports directly to Reinemund. The company also said that John C. Compton was named vice chairman of Frito-Lay. Compton will retain his current responsibilities as president of the North American salty snacks business. Frito-Lay, a division of PepsiCo, is based in Piano, Texas.
