L.A. McD's roll hot Fudge Sundae; Trump ads debut

LOS ANGELES -- The McDonald's Operators' Association of Southern California said local units launched a new $1.79 Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae, made with reduced-fat vanilla soft-serve ice cream. and hot fudge on a brownie, topped with whipped cream and a cherry. The item is available at participating McDonald's for a limited time in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties. MOASC represents nearly 600 franchised and company-owned McDonald's.

Separately, McDonald's launched a prime-time TV ad starring real-estate mogul Donald Trump to promote its Big N' Tasty and McChicken sandwiches for $1 and to support the current rollout of an eight-item ''Dollar Menu." Already installed in some McDonald's, the discount menu is scheduled to be in all locations by Nov.1.
