Tyson donates protein to NY Food Bank

Nation's Restaurant News, Oct 15, 2007

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Tyson Foods Inc. donated a truckload of protein foods to the Food Bank of Western New York. The donation consisted of more than 30,000 pounds of chicken products, which is said to be the equivalent of 120,000 meals. This is the sixth truckload of food that Tyson has donated in western New York this summer. Five truckloads containing 180,000 pounds of protein were delivered to five food banks in June and July.

The Food Bank of Western New York serves an area that includes Chautauqua, Erie, Niagara and Cattaraugus counties.

Commenting on the donation, Richard Bond, Tyson's chief executive, said, "Since we're a leader in the foods business, it's only natural for us to also be a leader in the fight against hunger in our nation."
