Belmont Hospital president receives ADA award

ATLANTA -- Mary Lou Smith, R.D., president of Belmont Convalescent Hospital, Burlingame, Calif., received the Marjorie Hulsizer Copher Award from the American Dietetic Association.

The Copher Award, presented at the ADA's national conference this month, is ADA's highest honor.

In addition, eight registered dietitians received the Medallion Award for the service to, and leadership in, the foodservice or nutrition industries. They included Darlene Dougherty, a nutrition management consultant to on-site operators and a former ADA president; Laura Matarese, manager of nutrition-support dietetics, Cleveland Clinic Foundation; and L. Charnette Norton, a food and environment management consultant for a number of on-site institutions.
