Dierdorf & Hafts donates $20K in honor of 20th anniversary

Nation's Restaurant News, Oct 20, 2003

ST. LOUIS -- Dierdorf & Hart's Steak House here gave $20,000, representing more than one-third of total sales generated during a recent midsummer week, to seven community charities in celebration of its 20th anniversary.

The benefiting causes were Fourteen Fund, the St. Louis Blues' charitable trust; Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital; St. Louis Crisis Nursery; Edward Jones YMCA; Cardinals Care, the community foundation of the St. Louis Cardinals; and Operation Food Search.

The restaurant, launched in 1983 by professional football celebrities Dan Dierdorf and Jim Hart, who played for the St. Louis Cardinals, operates at Westport Plaza in suburban Maryland Heights, Mo. Both sports personalities are still partners in the operation.

"In an industry where 75 percent of startups fail to survive their first year, we are very proud to have made it this far and to have made the donation to these worthy charities," said Dierdorf & Hart's managing partner, Lou Garesche.
