KOLMARNICK, SCOTLAND -- The manager of a McDonald's here had to shut down an Internet service after authorities discovered that children might be getting an adult education with their Happy Meals.

A report on the United Kingdom's version of silicon.com indicated that a number of customers using the new service were accessing pornography sites. The unit was offering 15 minutes of Internet access for free with the purchase of certain meals and for a preset charge for other customers.

A McDonald's spokesman said people were concerned that children could inadvertently see X-rated material while the adults were viewing it.

"Until we can find a way of firewalling the facility, it will stay closed," he said.
