Burger King same-store sales rise 1.1% for first quarter

MIAMI -- Burger King Corp. said U.S. same-store sales rose 1.1 percent for the first quarter ended Sept. 30, marking the chain's sixth straight quarterly same-store increase. Greg Brenneman, BK's chairman and chief executive, cited new products and "dramatic" improvements in restaurant performance, customer experience and marketing.

The No. 2 burger chain, which operates or franchises some 7,600 outlets nationwide, posted a 1.8-percent increase in domestic same-store sales for the fourth quarter ended June 30. BK stopped reporting monthly U.S. same-store sales after booking a gain of 6.7 percent in April.
