CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Compass Group North America donated $2 million to Johnson & Wales University as part of a long-term partnership with the culinary and hospitality university, which is opening up a campus here in the fail of 2004.
As part of the covenant agreement, the contract feeder has committed to helping with such initiatives as a scholarship program for high-school students and cooperative education programs as well as providing job opportunities for J&W graduates and alumni.

Compass is based in Charlotte, where J&W is building its seventh campus. With an enrollment of more than 15,000 students, the university has campuses in Providence, R.I.; Denver, North Miami, Fla.; Charleston, S.C.; Norfolk, Va.; and Gothenburg, Sweden.
