Nation's Restaurant News, Dec 4, 2000

POMONA, CALIF. -- A Panda Express branch opened on the campus of California State Polytechnic University here.

The unit, the 13th to be located on a college campus, opened in the Campus Center Marketplace. It is managed by the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation, the nonprofit organization that manages campus foodservice.

The grand opening included remarks by Andrew Cherng, founder and owner of South Pasadena, Calif.-based Panda Management Co., parent of the segment-leading Panda Express chain. The event also featured a chowmein-eating contest involving three campus departments -- University Housing services, Foundation Housing Service and Bronco Bookstore.
