New consumer guide for gluten-free, allergy-free dining

Nation's Restaurant News, Dec 19, 2005

CHICAGO -- A new book is on the shelves to help guide the many Americans with food allergies and celiac disease when dining out.

In "Let's Eat Out! Your Passport to Living Gluten and Allergy Free," authors Kim Koeller and Robert LaFrance offer tips on living, dining and traveling gluten free and allergy free. Published by R&R Publishing, the 500-page reference book aims to help consumers manage 10 food allergies--including corn, dairy, eggs, fish, gluten, nuts, shellfish and wheat--with insights from chefs, culinary experts, and health and medical professionals.

The book features 175 common recipes from several cuisines, including American, Chinese, French, Indian, Italian, Mexican and Thai. It also features a list of questions consumers can ask when dining out to make sure they order safe meals, as well as user-friendly guides that identify potential allergens and 130 snack and meal suggestions.
