McD's in N.C. test Web-based loyalty program

Nation's Restaurant News, March 4, 2002

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Fifteen MCDONALD'S units here and in neighboring towns are testing an Internet-based customer loyalty program called Road2Rewards, which targets consumers 13 and older.

Officials of the Oak Brook, Ill.-based company were unavailable for comment, but the affiliated www.road2rewards.com Web site said customers in five local communities receive coupons with a code number indicating spending with each purchase that exceeds $1.

Web site registrants enter the code to view their points, which can be accumulated and redeemed for McDonald's Value Meals, tickets to participating United Artist movie theaters or music CDs from FYE stores.
